What Happens in A Cake Smash?

Cake smashes are so much fun! Cake smashes have fun party decorations, bright colors (or we can keep it minimal at your request), a cute outfit and a cake! Often one year old’s are not that keen on smiling for a camera but when there is cake involved it provides a cute, funny and messy distraction! We record all those adorable faces from the first taste of cake to the messy destruction of it! It is such a memorable way to celebrate your little one’s first year!

When Do We Book our Cake Smash?

Like with newborns, I do book up ahead of time so I recommend booking a few months in advance if possible. We can schedule the session time based around your little one’s nap time so that they are happy and ready for cake smashing! Cake smash sessions are for one year olds and are meant to celebrate a baby’s first birthday.

What If My Baby Doesn’t Eat Cake?

There are many alternatives I’ve seen that exist for a traditional “cake smash”! If your baby has allergies or simply hates cake then there are spaghetti smashes, doughnut smashes, fruits and veggie smashes! The possibilities are endless!

Babies change so so much in one whole year, in fact, the first year is when they change the most! Capture one of their biggest milestones and celebrate them turning one whole year old!
